3 Days from Chefchaouen to Marrakesh Via Merzouga Day 1: Chefchaouen to Midelt City via Meknes, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and Cedar Forest Following breakfast at your riad, depart from Chefchaouen towards Azrou, a charming mountain village often referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco,” before continuing onward to Midelt. En route, marvel at the landscapes of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Pause at Azrou, a Berber village nestled amidst the renowned cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, where you may have the chance to spot Barbary apes. After exploring the forest, journey onward to Midelt, traversing the splendid hills and mountains of the Atlas range. Spend the night in Midelt. — Day 2: Midelt – Ziz Valley – Tafilalt Oasis – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert Begin the day with a traditional breakfast at your hotel in Midelt. Proceed to the Ziz Valley and Ziz Gorge, then ascend into the High Atlas Mountains before descending along the winding road, following the path carved by the Ziz River into the mesmerizing Moroccan desert. Admire panoramic views of the stunning gorges and valleys, adorned with vast date palm groves. As you pass through Erfoud, take in the sight of Morocco’s rich fossil fields and quarries. Journey onward to the Berber village of Merzouga, gateway to Morocco’s breathtaking Sahara Desert and the enchanting Erg Chebbi dunes. Embark on a camel ride into the dunes, where you’ll watch the sunset over the desert horizon. Spend the night camping in the comfort of a private Berber tent under the starry sky. — Day 3: Merzouga Desert to Marrakech via Ouarzazate and the High Atlas Mountains On the final day of our desert tour from Marrakech to Fez, we bid farewell to the serene desert landscape as our camels carry us back to Merzouga. From there, we embark on a journey towards one of the world’s cleanest and most captivating cities. Ifrane, often referred to as “Little Switzerland” within Morocco, awaits nestled high in the Atlas Mountains, where winter snowfall is not uncommon. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch in Ifrane, or alternatively, depending on the schedule, we may opt to stop over in the picturesque Ziz Valley.
